We have initiated compliance actions against early childhood education and care (ECEC) services that are failing to meet National Quality Standards (NQS).
Working with state and territory regulators, we identified services that have not met standards relating to quality and safety over several years.
This action relates to failing to meet National Quality Standards, not criminal allegations. These continue to be managed by local regulators and law enforcement authorities.
This action comes after new legislation passed parliament on 31 July.
Providers and services that do not meet the standards may be subject to compliance action. This includes:
- suspension or cancellation of their Child Care Subsidy (CCS) approval
- having further conditions placed on their CCS approval.
We will update the enforcement action register in due course.
These notices are the first step in enforcing the Commonwealth’s new powers. Future actions will target providers and services that are not prioritising child safety against a range of other indicators.
You can find information on the National Quality Framework (NQF) and NQS on the ACECQA website. This includes guidance on how to improve quality and safety.
We encourage you to engage with your regulator to discuss your NQS rating.
