New Inclusion Ready Toolkit to support inclusion in ECEC

A new Inclusion Ready Toolkit is now available to help early childhood education and care (ECEC) services strengthen inclusive practice.

On this page:

The toolkit will support services to create environments where all children can access, participate in and benefit from ECEC. It provides practical guidance to help service leaders and educators:

  • reflect on their current practice
  • identify strengths
  • set goals for improvement
  • access professional learning resources.

Services can choose how and when to use it to meet their needs. The toolkit supports existing inclusion obligations and does not introduce new requirements.

The toolkit was:

  • developed by ACECQA on behalf of the Australian Government Department of Education
  • informed by an expert consortium of higher education researchers
  • shaped by extensive consultation with the sector.

More than 1,700 educators, leaders and providers contributed to its development. It was tested with services across Australia to make sure it is practical and relevant for ECEC settings.

The toolkit and supporting resources are free and available to all ECEC services. It also aligns with existing quality and inclusion frameworks.
