The Australian and Western Australian Governments are partnering to deliver 4 new not-for-profit early childhood education and care (ECEC) services in outer suburban and remote Western Australia.
Through the Building Early Education Fund, the Australian Government will invest up to $27.9 million to build four new ECEC services, including:
- services at Maarakool Primary School and Greenmount Primary School
- an early learning and family centre in Derby.
This funding is being delivered through a Federation Funding Agreement schedule with the WA Government.
The new centre in Derby is being delivered through a partnership with the:
- WA Government
- Investment Dialogue for Australia’s Children (IDAC)
- Minderoo Foundation.
The centre will have capacity to support 48 ECEC places and 35 Outside School Hours Care places for families in Derby, Mowanjum and Pandanus Park.
Together, these projects will support the creation of more than 140 ECEC places.
The fourth project will be announced by both governments in due course.
The $1 billion Building Early Education Fund provides capital funding to build or expand ECEC services in areas of need. It is part of a broader commitment to chart the course to universal ECEC.
