Medium and small provider data collection begins for Early Education Service Delivery Prices project

Data collection for the Early Education Service Delivery Prices project has started.

This national project will build a clear, evidence-based picture of the costs of delivering safe, quality early childhood education and care (ECEC) across Australia. The findings will help inform future government decisions on the path to a universal, affordable ECEC system.

Deloitte Access Economics is supporting us to conduct this research, in consultation with:

  • ECEC providers and services
  • sector peaks
  • all levels of government.

We have invited all Child Care Subsidy approved providers to participate in the project. Participation is through a secure online portal and may include:

  • completing a short qualitative survey
  • providing financial and other documents
  • for some services, taking part in a more detailed consultation to explore cost drivers.

The project will also gather perspectives from educators, parents and carers to better understand quality, cost and value.

Information collected will be used to analyse how and why costs vary and to develop a dataset and model that inform the development of service delivery prices.

Data collection for small and medium providers will run until August 2026.
