This report examines targeted programs that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to study and work in early childhood education and care (ECEC).

It highlights the importance of:

  • tailored, place-based workforce programs
  • strong support from Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) ECEC services.

The report was prepared by SNAICC – National Voice for our Children in consultation with ECEC stakeholders. It was commissioned under action FA2–1 of the National Children’s Education and Care Workforce Strategy.

The publication of this report does not indicate government acceptance of any recommendations. The recommendations will be considered by governments.
