Personal information you collect from families
You collect personal information from families when you enrol children. You share this information with us so they can get CCS.
When you collect personal information from families, you must make sure that they:
- know that you are collecting their personal information
- understand that you will share this information with us
- consent to you sharing this information with us.
So that families can get CCS, we need to:
- collect their personal information
- share this information with other government departments, like Services Australia.
We are authorised to collect and disclose this information under FAL.
Make sure that families understand that we cannot provide CCS without their permission for you to share information with us.

Protecting personal information that you collect
You must also take reasonable steps to protect the personal information that you hold about families.
This includes keeping families’ information safe from:
- misuse, interference and loss
- unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

We collect and disclose personal information on providers and families to administer CCS.
This may include disclosure and collection of information with other Commonwealth departments, such as Services Australia.
We are authorised to collect and disclose this information under Family Assistance Law (FAL).
