The Australian Government response to the Senate Education and Employment References Committee (Committee) Interim and Final reports for the Inquiry into ‘The issue of increasing disruption in Australian school classrooms’ is now available.

Classroom disruption is a complex issue that affects student learning, and teacher and student wellbeing. The Australian Government response acknowledges the range of school and non-school factors that contribute to classroom disruption. The response to the Committee’s recommendations has been coordinated by the Department of Education, in consultation with Government agencies. The Government acknowledges that work is ongoing across all education sectors to support reasonable, proportionate, and non-discriminatory approaches to address classroom disruption. The Government will continue to work in partnership with states and territories to ensure that schools and teachers are provided with resources and tools that help them apply system level and whole school approaches to managing behaviour, including tiered intervention models and teacher professional development.
