The Australian Government response to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Employment, Education and Training (the Committee) report ‘Study Buddy or Influencer: Inquiry into the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in the Australian Education System’ is now available.

The response to the Committee’s recommendations has been coordinated by the Department of Education, in consultation with Government agencies. The Government acknowledges that work is ongoing across all education sectors to address the rapid pace of developments in Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and manage its safe, ethical and effective use. The Government will continue to work in partnership with states and territories to ensure guidance supports the appropriate use of GenAI, while maintaining the quality of education outcomes.
