On 18 December 2025, the Australian Government announced the establishment of the Antisemitism Education Taskforce to strengthen efforts in preventing, addressing, and responding to antisemitism within the education system.
The Taskforce will lead the implementation of measures outlined in the Government’s response to the Special Envoy’s Plan to Combat Antisemitism and provide advice on further actions to promote an inclusive Australia. Its work will span all levels of education, including early childhood, schools, and higher education, and will involve consultation with the Jewish community, the education workforce, student and youth bodies and other stakeholders as required as they progress this work.
Chaired by David Gonski AC, the Taskforce includes Australia’s Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism, representatives from federal and state education departments, independent and Catholic school bodies, Jewish education organisations, curriculum and teaching authorities, and tertiary education regulators.
