Released initial survey to seek views on the current and emerging requirements that the 2026 NRI Roadmap should cover. The 2026 NRI Roadmap development process is supported by an Expert Working Group – which will include representatives from the NRI Advisory Group – to provide expert advice on matters relating to NRI. Over 500 submissions were received.
Issues paper released

This issues paper provides information on the existing policy landscape and a snapshot of responses received to the NRI Roadmap Consultation survey conducted in early 2025.
This Issues Paper intentionally seeks input from Australia’s NRI stakeholders on specific topics.
The survey runs from 5pm AEDT, 21 October 2025 to 12pm AEDT, 8 December 2025.
Targeted Consultation
(current stage)
From July through to September 2026, targeted consultations will be held to support the development and refinement of the Roadmap Exposure Draft ahead of its release for public consultation.
Exposure draft released for feedback
Over September and October 2026, the Exposure Draft is expected to be released for public consultation.
Final Roadmap provided to Government
The final Roadmap is expected to be presented to Government for consideration by the end of 2026.
