The Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) program is an Australian Government initiative that provides financial assistance to support Year 4–12 students.
With on-site learning about national democratic, historical, and cultural institutions in Canberra, PACER helps improve students’ understanding of Australian democracy.
PACER-approved institutions deliver programs aligned with the Australian Curriculum, and schools must visit at least three of the four mandatory institutions: Australian Parliament House, Museum of Australian Democracy, National Electoral Education Centre, and the Australian War Memorial.
PACER rebates are available to all eligible Australian schools, including home schools. Rebates are allocated on a per-student basis, with amounts determined by the distance from the school to the Canberra GPO.
Additional rebates available to schools from 2023 have also been extended for a further two school calendar years into 2026 and 2027.
