The Australian Government is expanding the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) program with an additional $158.4 million investment, extending support to students studying 10 frontline allied health disciplines in areas of national skills shortage.
From 1 July 2027, eligible allied health students undertaking mandatory placements as part of their university studies will be able to access CPP, building on the support already available to teaching, nursing, midwifery and social work students.
The expanded program is expected to support around 95,000 students each year, providing cost-of-living relief during placement periods and helping more students gain the practical experience needed to join Australia's frontline workforce.
