Onboarding to the EFS

Education providers will be onboarded to the Education Funding System (EFS) through a phased and sequenced approach, aligned to system readiness and the timing of key business activities.

On this page:

Approved authorities were onboarded in November 2025, with initial system functionality made available. EFS functionality for approved authorities continue to be progressively released.

Block grant authorities (BGAs) and non-government representative bodies (NGRBs) were previously advised that onboarding would commence from Release 3 in July 2026.

BGAs will onboard to the EFS in November 2026 and have access to the full EFS functionality for the Capital Grants Program.

NGRBs will be able to commence onboarding to the EFS from November 2026 to view 2027 payments and manage their organisations.

Until onboarded to the EFS, BGAs and NGRBs will continue to undertake existing business-as-usual activities using current systems and processes.

Higher education providers will commence onboarding to the EFS from the second half of 2026, with onboarding undertaken in cohorts aligned to the timing of key data collections and business activities.

This cohort-based approach ensures all users are onboarded with sufficient lead time ahead of their first on-system activity, enabling preparation, training and a supported transition to the EFS.

All EFS users are required to authenticate into the EFS using a Digital ID (myID and Relationship Authorisation Manager (RAM)). Visit the Digital ID page.
