On 12 December 2019, the National Schools Resourcing Board (the Board) presented the Australian Government with its final report: Review of needs-based funding requirements: Final Report | 2019.
The Board reviewed the needs-based funding requirements for approved system authorities as defined in the Australian Education Act 2013 (the Act).

The report was informed by a range of extensive research, consideration of the requirements of the Act, the National School Reform Agreement and associated Bilateral Reform Agreements, and analysis of public submissions on a range of issues proposed by various stakeholders. The Board also undertook targeted consultations with key stakeholders in each state and territory.
On 2 July 2020, the Australian Government announced its response to the Board’s review.
Public submissions
On 28 May 2019, an issues paper was released by the Board inviting public submissions. The Public submissions closed at 5.00pm (AEST) on 28 June 2019.
A total of 17 submissions were received and considered by the Board.
