The Government has extended the Positive Partnerships program until June 2029. This national program aims to help schools and families work together to improve the educational outcomes of Autistic school-age children and young people by providing:
- high-quality professional learning for teachers, principals, and other school staff to strengthen their knowledge, skills and confidence in working with Autistic students
- workshops and information sessions for parents and carers to help build their understanding and knowledge about autism in education
- support to implement inclusive strategies that benefit whole school communities
- a dedicated website with online learning modules and other resources, including:
- resources, in different languages, for parents and carers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- resources developed in consultation with First Nations communities.
All services are free and available to staff and families from all government and non-government, primary and secondary schools across Australia.
Phase 5 of the Positive Partnerships program is being implemented by Autism Spectrum Australia (ASPECT).
