Celebrate World Teachers’ Day and shine a light on teachers

Teachers make a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people every day. Through their dedication, expertise and care, they help students learn, grow and achieve their potential both in and beyond the classroom.

This year, World Teachers’ Day will be celebrated on Friday 30 October 2026, with the theme ‘Shine a light on Teachers’. The theme recognises the important role teachers play in supporting student learning, wellbeing and success, and encourages communities across Australia to acknowledge and celebrate their contribution.

As we prepare to join the celebrations, we're looking back at reflections from teachers Peta and Danni on their teaching journeys and the impact they make in the lives of their students every day. Their stories highlight the passion, dedication and care that teachers bring to their profession, as well as their advice for anyone considering a career in teaching.
