ITHEA Corporation Pty Ltd [02892J], trading as Institute of Tertiary and Higher Education Australia, was placed into liquidation and ceased operating on Tuesday 6 January 2026. Dye & Co. Pty Ltd has been appointed as the liquidator.
The Tuition Protection Service (TPS) activated on Friday 16 January 2026 and will be working to assist the international students affected by the closure of ITHEA.
Information about the Tuition Protection Service
The International Students webpage and the TPS Student Support Process following an Education Provider Default resource contain information about how the TPS can assist international students affected by an education provider closure.
If you have questions about the ITHEA closure, please contact the TPS by emailing support@tps.gov.au or calling 1300 131 798.
Information session for students
The TPS conducted an online information session for the students affected by the closure of ITHEA on Tuesday 20 January 2026. A recording of the online information session and the slides are available for viewing.
Student records
Students are strongly encouraged to obtain an up-to-date copy of their student records from ITHEA.
If you are unable to obtain a copy of your student records for the units of study you have already completed, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) may be able to assist. The ASQA website includes information about how ASQA can help students and how to get a copy of your student records.
Visa information
Any questions regarding your visa status, working arrangements and travel should be directed to the Department of Home Affairs. The Department of Home Affairs can be contacted by calling 131 881 (in Australia) or +61 2 6196 0196 (outside Australia).
Information for domestic students enrolled in government-subsidised courses
The TPS cannot assist domestic students enrolled in government-subsidised courses at ITHEA under the Victorian Skills First Program. The Victorian Skills Authority (VSA) website contains information about what to do if your training provider closes.
If you were enrolled in one of these courses, the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions will email you a fee waiver letter. You can continue your studies at a TAFE or training provider with the same or a similar course, without having to pay more tuition fees. You can contact the TAFE and Training Line by emailing tafe.courseline@djsir.vic.gov.au or calling 13 18 23.
You will receive a fee credit for any units of study that you were doing when ITHEA closed. You will need to pay the amenities or materials costs at the new training provider. Please make sure you get copies of your student records or a statement of attainment from the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
If you need help, please contact ASQA or the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA).
