Submissions for the First Nations Education Policy consultation are now open!

The Australian Department of Education is seeking online submissions from individuals and organisations who want to help make a positive impact on First Nations education in Australia.

In addition to the online submission process, consultation will also include working with key First Nations education stakeholders and state and territory governments to accelerate improvement in the experiences and outcomes of First Nations learners. The Policy will provide a clear national framework for action in First Nations Education, including defining shared priorities and establishing how change will be enacted and evaluated.

The Australian Government made a commitment to develop a new First Nations Education Policy as part of the 2024–25 Budget and the Better and Fairer Schools Agreements (BFSA). The Australian Department of Education and First Nations partners aim to ensure the voices and perspectives of First Nations communities are heard, understood, and built into the Policy.
