Strathpine University Study Hub is open and supporting students undertaking tertiary education in the outer suburbs north of Brisbane.
The hub is funded under the Australian Government’s Suburban University Study Hubs (SUSH) program, which aims to reduce barriers to tertiary education for students living in outer metropolitan areas of Australia.
Strathpine University Study Hub provides students with study spaces, high-speed internet, workstations and monitors, meeting rooms with video conferencing facilities, academic skills support and access to tutoring and mentoring.
The hub is open with staff support from 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday. Students can access the hub unstaffed from 6am to midnight, 7 days a week.
Bachelor of Science student Robert is fulfilling his goal of attending university with support from the hub, and is the first registered student.
“I feel that it (the hub) will benefit many future students. The quiet study spaces and having the ability to book rooms if I need to undertake a group assignment (will be most helpful). And the free coffee!” Robert said.
“The hub is a safe space that removes barriers to university, such as not owning a computer, or not having a quiet space at home to study.
“It’s easy to take those things for granted, but not everyone is lucky enough to have what they need to get into uni and then follow it through to the end.”
Strathpine University Study Hub is one of 15 SUSH opening across 17 outer metropolitan locations in 2025.
The following locations are also open to students:
- Kurri Kurri Community Services Study Hub (NSW)
- Uni Hub Playford (SA)
- Southeast Tasmania Study Hub (Tas)
- Mandurah Universities Centre (WA)
- Ellenbrook Study Hub (WA)
In addition, there are 46 Regional University Study Hubs currently open and 10 new regional hubs expected to open throughout the year.
