The Higher Education Standards Panel (HESP) has released a consultation paper inviting feedback on proposed amendments to the Higher Education Standards Framework (Threshold Standards) 2021.

Consultation paper
At the request of the Hon Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education, HESP is seeking advice on potential updates to the Threshold Standards to address several high‑priority and emerging issues. The consultation paper outlines targeted amendments aimed at improving student safety, strengthening governance, enhancing inclusion, and ensuring the Framework remains responsive to technological and sector changes.
HESP welcomes feedback on one or more of the issues highlighted in the paper. Specifically, feedback is sought on:
- Demonstrating a commitment to addressing racism
- Incorporating University Governance Principles and transparency requirements
- Supporting people with disability
- Responding to emerging technology risks, including Generative AI (GenAI)
- Approaches to a cyclical review of the Threshold Standards

Feedback can be provided during a webinar, through the feedback form or by email.

Webinars will run from Tuesday 10 March to Friday 13 March. Register to attend the Higher Education Standards Panel consultation sessions.

- Support for people with disability
- Emerging technology risks (GenAI)
There will also be two dedicated webinars across the above topics for First Nations People and Students and Youth.
