University Foreign Interference Taskforce

The University Foreign Interference Taskforce is the primary conduit for all university and Government counter foreign interference related activities.

The University Foreign Interference Taskforce (UFIT) was established on 28 August 2019 to provide better protection for universities against foreign interference.

The UFIT brings together the university sector and Australian Government agencies to collaboratively support and build an environment of trust and resilience, and to guide a university’s decision-making based on proportionate risks, so Australian universities can continue to produce world-class research.

The UFIT Steering Group, and associated working groups, led the development of the Guidelines to Counter Foreign Interference in the Australian University Sector.
