Commonwealth Regional Scholarship Program

The Commonwealth Regional Scholarship Program will provide scholarships to students from regional, rural and remote communities. Scholarships will assist with boarding fees and associated costs.

What is the Commonwealth Regional Scholarship Program?

The Australian Government is investing $10.9 million in the Commonwealth Regional Scholarship Program. This program will offer scholarships to students from regional, rural and remote areas, to assist with boarding fees and associated costs.

Scholarships will be for up to 6 years.

The following scholarships will be available from 2024:

  • 50 scholarships of $20,000 p.a. per student, for students from low-income families
  • 50 scholarships of $10,000 p.a. per student, for students from low-to-middle income families experiencing financial hardship.

How can I apply?

The Department of Education will share more information here about the program in coming months, including eligibility criteria and how families can apply.

Will a further round of scholarships be offered after 2024?

The Commonwealth Regional Scholarship Program is a pilot program. The Australian Government will evaluate the program’s outcomes and consider additional places in future years if the program is successful.
