The Education Funding System (EFS) will be delivered incrementally, over 5 releases, between November 2025 and December 2026. Providing transitional architecture that enables legacy systems, such as SchoolsHUB, to incrementally transition to the EFS, while maintaining delivery of accurate and timely payments, based on policy, legislative and program needs.

Each release iteratively delivers critical business capabilities for schools and higher education stakeholders.

EFS Release Roadmap 2025-26

What does this mean for Schools

EFS will progressively replace SchoolsHUB as the portal education providers use to manage their reporting with the Department of Education.

From Release 1 in November 2025, approved authorities can access the EFS via EducationHUB in readiness to view 2026 school payments and submit data as part of their funding requirements.

From Release 3, Block Grant Authorities and Non-Government Representative Bodies will commence using the EFS, with enhanced system capabilities rolled out over Release 4 and Release 5.

What does this mean for Higher Education Institutions

The EFS will progressively replace some of the systems higher education institutions currently use to submit data and apply for and receive funding from the Department of Education.

EFS changes for higher education institutions are expected to commence from Release 3, with iterative system capabilities rolled out over Release 4 and Release 5.

Further information about when new EFS functionality for higher education institutions is expected to be published in the first quarter of 2026.
