Tertiary students living in the outer suburbs of NSW can now access higher education through the newly opened Kurri Kurri Community Services (KKCS) Study Hub.
The hub was the first to open under the Australian Government’s Suburban University Study Hubs (SUSH) program, providing improved access to higher education for those living in outer metropolitan areas of Australia.
The KKCS Study Hub provides students with learning spaces, workstations with high-speed internet, meeting rooms with video conferencing facilities, and access to staff delivering administrative, academic skills and wellbeing support.
The hub is already supporting students and is currently open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, with swipe access available 7 days a week from 7am to 9pm.
The new KKSC Study Hub is part of the Australian Government’s commitment to double the number of University Study Hubs across the country.
KKCS Study Hub student Ava said the hub has provided her with the support and flexibility she needs to be able to complete her university studies.
“Now that I have registered with KKCS Study Hub, I don’t feel as much pressure and anxiety about assignment deadlines, I know that I have a nearby study space with flexible access and hours,” Ava said.
“Additionally, I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing any academic support, because the KKCS team is around if I need help. Kurri Kurri Study Hub is a service that I would encourage any tertiary student in the Hunter region to sign up for.”
The KKCS Study Hub is one of 15 SUSH locations to be established in 2025. The government announced 10 new locations in November 2024, with an additional 5 sites announced in February this year.
In addition, there are now 46 RUSHs currently open and an additional 10 expected to open during 2025.
