Anti-Bullying Rapid Review submissions are now open

Submissions are open for students and young people, parents, carers and teachers to share their experiences with bullying in schools.

Bullying and cyber bullying have significant detrimental impacts on student mental health and wellbeing. Bullying undermines student wellbeing, attendance, engagement and learning outcomes. It also contributes to lifelong impacts such as reduced community participation, poor socio-economic outcomes, and increases in ill-mental and physical health.

On 16 February 2025, expert co-chairs Dr Charlotte Keating and Dr Jo Robinson AM were appointed to lead the Australian Government Anti-Bullying Rapid Review.

The Review will look at what is working and what needs strengthening in terms of approaches to address bullying in schools. Dr Keating and Dr Robinson will then report to Education Ministers with options for the development of a consistent national standard for responding to bullying and its underlying causes in Australian schools.

Co-chair Dr Keating said:

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join Dr Jo Robinson AM as co-chair of the government's Anti-Bullying Rapid Review to inform the development of a national standard for addressing bullying in schools, grounded in evidence and informed by lived experience."

Co-chair Dr Robinson said:

"We've been asked to have a good look at what is going on in terms of bullying interventions across Australian schools and talk to a whole range of really critical stakeholders about the difficulties they're experiencing in their school communities and what they'd like to see in a consistent national standard."

Anyone interested in providing their views on bullying in schools, or sharing their experience, is encouraged to make a submission. Dr Keating and Dr Robinson are particularly interested in hearing from students and young people, parents/carers, teachers and other school professionals. Submissions can be made via the Anti-Bullying Rapid Review webpage.

To complement the submission process, the review's co-chairs will meet with stakeholders, including parents/carers, teachers and young people across the country. These consultations are expected to take place between June and July 2025.

Submissions close on Friday 20 June 2025.
