Teachers play a vital role in shaping the lives of young people, leaving a lasting impact that extends far beyond the classroom. World Teachers’ Day is the perfect opportunity to honour the dedication, passion and hard work of teachers across Australia.
We’re celebrating our teachers to show how much we appreciate them. To mark the occasion, we visited students and asked them to tell us something special about one of their teachers.
We were thrilled to hear such heartfelt quotes from students, that show just how much great teaching can inspire. Here is a sample of some of the wonderful messages we heard from students about their teachers.

Join the celebration
This year, the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) invites everyone to take part in the “Hats Off to Teachers” campaign. It’s a fun and meaningful way to show your support:
- Snap a selfie wearing your favourite hat, beanie or beret.
- Share what teachers mean to you in a social media post.
- Tag @aitsl and use #WorldTeachersDay on social media.
- Create a playful “hats off” GIF using AITSL’s online photobooth.
