The Australian Government’s Job-ready Graduates package (the package) invests in higher education in areas of national priority and ensures our higher education system delivers the best results for students, industry and the community.

Every three years, a sample of Australian students are chosen to participate in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), which is an ongoing part of Australia's National Assessment Program (NAP).

Every year, all Australian students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 sit the National Assessment Program—Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), which is an ongoing part of Australia's National Assessment Program (NAP).

Each year, select groups of students are chosen to participate in one of the three sample assessments that are an ongoing part of Australia's National Assessment Program (NAP). Schools may also elect to participate in NAP Opt-in assessments.

In 2011, 2016 and 2021 a sample of Australian students were chosen to participate in the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS), a non-ongoing part of Australia's National Assessment Program (NAP).
