VET Student Loans Eligible Courses and Loan Caps
Certain Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas, delivered by VET Student Loan approved providers, are eligible for a VET Student Loan. Eligible students will be entitled for loans up to a capped amount.
The list of current VET Student Loans approved courses and maximum loan amounts is available in the VET Student Loans (Courses and Loan Caps) Determination 2016 on www.legislation.gov.au.
A list of VET Student Loans Approved Course Providers from 1 July 2017 is available in the 2017 Approved Course Providers List.
In February 2017, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training began a comprehensive review of the methodology of the VET Student Loan Course list and course caps. The Regulation Impact Statement sets out the Government's preferred option for the VET FEE-HELP redesign, as well as alternatives, developed following consultations with VET FEE-HELP providers in April 2016 and public submissions in response to the discussion paper.
The Redesigning VET FEE-HELP Discussion Paper outlined issues with the VET FEE-HELP scheme, and proposed a range of possible options to address these. The Discussion Paper was opened for public comment until 30 June 2016.
