Reduction of TPS levy for 2021

To recognise the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on our international education sector, the Tuition Protection Service (TPS) Levy is being substantially reduced for 2021.

Most international education providers will pay a lower TPS levy in 2021 however each provider payment will vary due to the differences in student enrolments and individual provider risk ratings.

Providers will receive more information on the levy collection process in the first half of 2021.

The TPS was established in July 2012 under the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 to assist international students holding a student visa if their provider closed operations. The TPS also assists students who have withdrawn from, or not started their course, but are eligible for a refund of their tuition fees that have not been refunded by the provider. The TPS is funded by industry via an annual TPS levy paid by all providers of education to international students.
