The Australian Government is investing $9.5 million to strengthen the capacity of teachers across Australia to teach mathematics and numeracy through freely available, nationally coordinated, high quality professional learning and resources.
The online teaching and learning resources for mathematics and numeracy initiative will deliver Mathematics Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) providing professional development for teachers of foundation to Year 10 students, supported by face-to-face professional learning and a repository of teaching and learning resources through an online Mathematics Hub. The Hub will include numeracy check and formative assessment tools aligned with the Australian Curriculum to support school leaders and teachers, as well as resources for students and families.
The MOOCs initiative will build on the successful Australian Government funded, combined delivery model currently in use for the Digital Technologies MOOCs and Digital Technologies Hub to build improvements in Mathematics teacher capability across Australia.
The free, nationally available Mathematics MOOCs and Hub will provide centralised, contemporary resources and tools to support teachers to deliver high quality mathematics and numeracy education across Australia’s school sector.
Tender open: An open Request for Tender (RFT) to develop and roll out online teaching and learning resources in mathematics and numeracy was released on AusTender on Monday 20 January 2020, with a closing date of 28 February 2020.
Tenderers may apply to deliver the entire initiative or one of the components. If separate tenderers are successful for the two components of work they must work together to meet the service delivery requirements of the initiative.
The RFT invites tenderers to submit proposals for the development and delivery of the Mathematics MOOCs and Hub as a combined project, or for either component individually.
To view the RFT you must register on AusTender. All questions about the tender are to be emailed to the contact officer at MathsinSchools@education.gov.au. Responses to questions will be uploaded to AusTender as an addendum and everyone who has registered on AusTender to view RFT PRN 2-19-2 will receive an email advising that an addendum has been published.
