Second meeting of the Council for International Education

The Council for International Education held its second annual meeting on Thursday 19 October 2017.

Chaired by Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training, the Council consists of six Australian Government Ministers and Assistant Ministers and eleven expert members.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Assistant Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills and Assistant Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science representing the Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science attended the meeting of the Council and spoke about the interface between their relevant portfolios and international education.

Council members reflected on the progress of the first year of the National Strategy for International Education 2025 and discussed the key challenges ahead.
