Regional University Centres win IPAA award

Monday 3 August 2020

The Department’s Regional University Centres program has won the Citizen-Centred Innovation award at the 2020 Public Sector Innovation Awards.

At a ceremony on Friday 31 July 2020, the judges said the program provided “a unique and creative approach to higher education”.

The Regional University Centres program gives tertiary students the option to remain in their regional or remote community while undertaking their course online in a fully supported ‘campus-like’ environment.

With the June 2020 announcement of the Job-ready Graduates package, the Australian Government committed a further $21 million over four years to further expand and strengthen the program to provide the facilities needed to improve the tertiary education experience of regional students.

This brings the Government’s total investment since 2016 to more than $1 billion in measures to improve higher-level tertiary education outcomes for regional and remote Australia.
