Minister Pyne congratulates Simpson Prize winners ahead of Gallipoli trip

Minister for Education, the Hon Christopher Pyne MP has presented prizes to eight winners and eight runners-up of the 2014 Simpson Prize, which recognises outstanding work in historical research around the Anzac story.

The eight young Australian winners will travel to Gallipoli for this year’s Anzac Day commemorations. Mr Pyne congratulated the students on the quality of their ANZAC-inspired essays.

The Simpson Prize is funded through the Australian Government’s Civics and Citizenship Education programme, with $190,000 provided for this year’s prize and a further $190,000 committed for next year’s prize.
