It is also an advisory body for the Translation and Interpreting (T&I) industry in Australia providing advice and consultancy services on T&I standards, accreditation, role and conduct of Translators and Interpreters and T&I skills in various settings.

National Agreement for Skills and Workforce Development

New Zealand

Workbase New Zealand - The National Centre for Workplace Literacy & Language is an independent non-profit organisation that improves literacy, numeracy and communication skills of the New Zealand workforce. Established in 1996 Workbase works in partnership with business, the tertiary education sector and government and contracts to a wide range of private and public sector organisations in recognition that literacy impacts across many policy and practice contexts.

Literacy, Language and Numeracy Action Plan 2008-1012 - This site looks closely at how literacy and numeracy skills are taught and, in particular, how tertiary education organisations need to be supported to build their capability to offer these learning opportunities.

Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey

The 2006 Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey (ALLS) provides information on knowledge and skills of 15 to 74 year olds in prose literacy, document literacy, numeracy and problem solving skills, and the ability to understand health related information. The ALLS was conducted in Australia as part of an international study coordinated by Statistics Canada and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
