Minister for Education Dan Tehan announced the Job-ready Graduates Package (the package) of reforms to higher education on 19 June 2020.

The package delivers immediate support to students, universities and researchers as we work to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Total funding for higher education in 2021 will exceed $20 billion, a record level of investment in the sector and increase of more than $2 billion from 2020. The investment supports up to 30,000 places for students and around 50,000 more short courses.
The legislation to enact the package passed the Senate on 8 October 2020. Before it becomes law, it must be voted again in the House of Representatives, and signed by the Governor-General.
