The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has commissioned a consortium of researchers led by the Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) to undertake an independent evaluation of the child care package (the Package), introduced on 2 July 2018.
Between 2018 and 2021, AIFS will collect and analyse a range of information to examine the impact of the Package on families, services and providers. This will include information collected from surveys of parents, grandparents, guardians and child care services, as well as interviews with child care providers and other key stakeholders. It will also involve analysis of administrative data.
AIFS' consortium partners are:
- the Centre for Social Research and Methods at the Australian National University
- the Social Policy Research Centre at the University of New South Wales
- the Social Research Centre.
The Early Monitoring Report from the evaluation of the Child Care Package, which is based on data collected to coincide with the introduction of Package, captures the views of stakeholders at transition, and provides a baseline against which further findings can be analysed over the course of the evaluation.
