Current child care system for providers (until 1 July 2018)


There is a range of information and support for child care providers.

Please note that the current child care arrangements will be replaced on 2 July 2018 with a New Child Care Package.

Support to operate a service

Child care providers and other organisations can get information and support from the Australian Government to help them deliver high-quality child care services. This includes information on how to become a child care provider, how to operate a child care service and how to improve services for children and their families.

Child Care Management System

The Child Care Management System is a national online computer system. All approved child care services are required to use third party software to interact with the system to meet obligations under Family Assistance Law.


Changes to the Family Assistance Law to reduce serious non-compliance and potential fraud in the Family Day Care sector.

Child Care Services Support Programme

The Child Care Services Support Programme provides financial assistance to child care providers to improve access to child care for children, families and communities.

Budget Based Funded services

The Budget Based Funded program provides a contribution to the operational costs of approximately 300 early learning and child care and school aged care services.

Early Childhood Workforce Initiatives

The Early Childhood Workforce Initiatives offer a range of programs, incentives and information to support, train and retain experienced and qualified early learning and child care educators.
