Child Care Package – for families

On 2 July 2018 the Child Care Subsidy and Additional Child Care Subsidy replaced the previous child care fee assistance payments (Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate). Child Care Subsidy will generally be paid directly to your approved child care provider/s to reduce the fees you pay.

In April 2018 all families in receipt of Child Care Benefit and/or Child Care Rebate for approved care received a Centrelink letter about transitioning to the Child Care Subsidy.

If you have not already done so. you should follow the instructions in your letter and go online to complete your Child Care Subsidy assessment or claim for Child Care Subsidy as soon as possible. This can be done through your Centrelink online account via If you do not already have a myGov account, you can create one at and link it to your Centrelink online account.

Families who have yet to complete their Child Care Subsidy online assessment will have until 23 September 2018 to do so and subject to availability, your subsidy will be paid in arrears back to 2 July 2018.
