In 2015 the department attended six tertiary skills and career exhibitions and 38 university open days. By hosting information booths at these events, the department was able to provide information about the range of Government assistance available to prospective students, which assists them to make informed choices about their higher education.
Annual attendance at university open days continues to provide a valuable, ongoing opportunity for direct engagement with prospective students and their families.
Departmental staff spoke with more than 10,000 people during 2015, collecting data on what Australians want to know about higher education, and the best ways for the department to provide this information.
Insights obtained will ensure future communication activities remain responsive to the target audience’s needs.
Direct engagement supports other communications materials, such as the Study Assist website, HELP student information publications, and student enquiry call centre.
