The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has commissioned a consortium of researchers led by the Australian Institute of Family Studies to undertake an independent evaluation of the child care package introduced on 2 July 2018.

Ministerial Advisory Council
Between July 2014 and June 2017, the Ministerial Advisory Council for Child Care and Early Learning provided a forum where strategic policies affecting the child care and early learning sector could be considered, and informative consultation with the sector could take place.
