AFS Intercultural Programs, Australia

AFS is a global non profit volunteer organisation. Every year AFS Intercultural Programs, Australia provides opportunities for hundreds of our young people aged 15 to 18 to live for a few months or a whole year in another country. There they are immersed in a different culture, mostly living with host families and attending local high schools. Each year AFS also makes it possible for hundreds of students from nearly 40 countries around the world to come and live with Australian host families.

These youth exchange programs enable Australian students to apply for short-term study to China (STS), high school graduates to study in China for one year and to encourage young Australian graduates with some business experience as well as Mandarin language abilities, to develop a career in Australia-China commercial relations.

Formerly the Creative Connections project, the One World Classrooms Project links classrooms from around the world through email, the internet, art/music exchanges and study partnerships, with components in Latin America (including schools in the Amazon Rain Forest, the Galapagos Islands, Chile, Ecuador and Costa Rica), Africa and China.
