ATSILIRN was established as a support and information network for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people working in libraries and for those people servicing the information needs of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples. ATSILIRN's membership includes students, individuals and organisations that provide information or resource services, with the majority of members coming from library and archival institutions.

The Aboriginal Australia wall map represents work carried out for the Encyclopaedia of Aboriginal Australia. Using the published resources available between 1988 and 1994, the map attempts to represent language, tribal or nation groups of Australia's Indigenous peoples. It is possible to click on grid sections of the map for an enlarged image.

A ministerial issues paper from the 2002 Higher Education at the Crossroads Review which discusses a wide range of initiatives that may further improve the outcomes of Indigenous people in higher education while acknowledging that improved participation of Indigenous Australians in higher education is highly dependent on improvements in participation in education from early childhood through to secondary education and vocational education and training.

The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) established the Indigenous Program Initiative (IPI) with a particular focus on identifying and developing key creative initiators in film and television - the producer (creative businessperson), the director (visionary) and the screenwriter (storyteller). This focus has now been broadened to include creative technical contributors in the screen industries and those working in radio broadcasting. IPI administrates two merit-based scholarships, the Myer One Year Indigenous Scholarship and the Macquarie Group Foundation Indigenous Scholarship.

AMA Indigenous Peoples' Medical Scholarship Trust Fund

This scholarship, provided by the Australian Medical Association, is intended for the assistance and encouragement of Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders studying for a medical degree at an Australian University. Applicants must be eligible for ABSTUDY, and must be currently enrolled at an Australian Medical School and completing at least their first year of medicine.
