    Joint American Library Association (ALA) and American Association of School Librarians (AASL) standards document to guide US School Library Media Specialist (Teacher Librarian) Preparation Programs. Goals are: to prepare candidates for service and leadership as school library media specialists serving preK-12 students. The program addresses the philosophy, principles and ethics of the field: to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information through teaching and learning, information access and delivery, reading advocacy, and program administration. It values research, reading, teaching and services to the field; and it determines the role of library services in a diverse and changing society.

    The ACCE values the efforts of educators at all levels of the Australian educational community, and in conjunction with the Australian Computer Society (ACS), has established two awards to recognise the contribution of individual educators to the advocacy of ICT in Education. These two awards are: ACCE Educator of the Year, and the ACCE Award for Outstanding Leadership in Use of ICT in Education. Each state member association has the opportunity to nominate educators for the awards, and their nominees will usually be the recipients of state awards.
