    Deakin University's six campuses in Geelong, Melbourne and Warrnambool, Victoria combine with an emphasis on flexible delivery to allow students to study on campus or off campus, full time or part time, or using a mix of study modes. Its flexible learning study packages include computer-aided learning, simulations and videos. Deakin has five faculties, Arts, Business and Law, Education, Health and Behavioural Sciences, and Science and Technology. The corporate arm of Deakin University, DeakinPrime provides corporations, industry, government, unions and professional associations with training for their workplace learners.

    Established in 1967, La Trobe University's main campus is in Melbourne in the suburb of Bundoora, sixteen kilometres from the CBD. As well as one other metropolitan campus in the City, La Trobe has a strong regional presence with campuses in Mildura, Bendigo, Shepparton, Beechworth and Albury-Wodonga. Its five faculties are Education; Health Sciences; Humanities & Social Sciences; Law & Management; and Science, Technology & Engineering. Between them they offer over 450 undergraduate and postgraduate courses and research programs.

    The MCD is unique in Australia being the only theological institution established by Act of Parliament and listed by the Australian Qualifications Authority. It is one of the world's oldest ecumenical institutions being founded in 1910 and now has the Anglican, Baptist, Churches of Christ, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic and Uniting Church in Australia working together. Over 7450 degrees have been granted since 1910 and in 2001 over 70 full time and 50 part-time faculty with 358 postgraduate students and 1300 undergraduates.

    The 1992 proclamation by the Parliament of Victoria of Swinburne University of Technology Act, marked not only recognition of its distinguished history, but the beginning of a new period of growth and innovation for Swinburne. From its establishment in 1908 in Melbourne?s eastern suburb of Hawthorn, Swinburne has grown from being a local provider of technical education into a multidisciplined, multicampus provider of higher education of national and international significance. In 1994 the Higher Education Sector of Swinburne underwent a major restructure when the four faculties (Arts, Business, Applied Science and Engineering) and one school (The School of Design) were amalgamated into two divisions -- Division of Business, Humanities and Social Science; and Division of Science, Engineering and Design.

    The University of Ballarat is a small, independent university with direct links back to the foundation of the very first higher learning institutions in Australia. It is pre-eminently a regional institution, with two major campuses in Ballarat and one each in Horsham, Stawell and Ararat. Residential accommodation is provided on campus.
