    Griffith University is one university servicing three cities - Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Logan. The University's five campuses cater for more than 29,000 students including 4,500 students from overseas. A well-established international reputation and student and staff exchange agreements with more than 100 overseas institutions have resulted in a culturally diverse university serving a global community. The University also boasts one of Australia's largest music school, the Queensland Conservatorium, and Queensland's oldest art institution, the Queensland College of Art. Griffith University is named after the Rt Hon Sir Samuel Walker Griffith, GCMG QC MA LLD, a former Queensland Premier and the first Chief Justice of Australia.

    James Cook University, situated in Northern Queensland, provides teaching programs and research training across a broad range of disciplines, offering more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate courses. JCU has developed special strengths in a number of areas including the study of the marine sciences - marine biology and chemistry, resource management of the Great Barrier Reef, mariculture and fisheries, and coastal engineering. Other strengths in the environmental field include tropical ecosystems and their conservation and management, and natural products chemistry. JCU also excels in the areas of geosciences and geotechnology with special reference to the mineral industries, cyclone engineering, applications of computing and information sciences, electronic engineering, anthropology and archaeology in areas of particular relevance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, indigenous and regional history, and Australian literature. Courses are also offered in Pharmacy, Animal Science, Communication Design, and Photography. The Medical School specialises in the health needs of northern Australia and remote communities.

    Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is one of Australia's largest universities, enrolling 30,000 students including more than 2000 international students. QUT's three Brisbane campuses - Gardens Point (City), Kelvin Grove and Carseldine offer more than 130 undergraduate and postgraduate courses in eight major discipline areas: Arts, Built Environment and Engineering, Business, Education, Health, Information Technology, Law, and Science. The former Queensland Institute of Technology (est. 1965) became a university (QUT) in 1989. Brisbane College of Advanced Education amalgamated with QUT in 1990, and today the multi-campus university offers one of the widest selections of courses in Australia. Although a relatively new university, QUT's origins go back to the beginning of technical and teacher education in Queensland when the Brisbane School of Arts was established in 1849.

    The University has teaching and research sites throughout Queensland. Its major campuses are at St Lucia, Ipswich and Gatton. UQ has more than 400 academic programs on offer. UQ is the only institution in the state offering studies in medicine and surgery, dentistry, veterinary science, speech pathology and food technology.

    University of Southern Queensland (USQ) specialises in distance education and the flexible delivery of educational services. It is a dynamic, young University, located in Toowoomba, Queensland, with a second campus in Hervey Bay and many regional support offices throughout Australia and in other countries. The University believes that flexible delivery is about giving people WHAT they want, WHERE they want it, WHEN they want it, and they are a large provider of international education to students studying essentially in their home country.
