The Certificates in General Education for Adults (CGEA) are four accredited certificates which allow adults (15+) who have not completed secondary education to improve their literacy, numeracy and general education skills. The Certificates provide a range of educational opportunities to assist adults to meet personal needs, increase participation in the community, the workplace and further education and training. The four certificates are: Certificate I in General Education for Adults (Introductory), Certificate I in General Education for Adults, Certificate II in General Education for Adults, Certificate III in General Education for Adults.

This research is part of the 2007 E-learning benchmark project.The analysis in this report contrasts the attitudes to e-learning and e-learning experiences of VET students over the age of forty-five. Analysis of the VET student survey is based on 1,121 responses from public, private, industry, enterprise and community-based RTOs in all states and territories. Issues covered are: training delivery, ICT skills and computer use, employment opportunities and outcomes, flexible training, and use of e-business services.

This interactive online course is designed to help people develop skills to reach their goals for study, work and life. There are three units of activities: Getting started; Action plans, small steps and milestones; Building a learning system. The activities are designed to help users identify and articulate what they already know and then enable them to link thei knowledge to learning situations - informally at first and then in formal learning situations. The target audience includes adult learners and second chance learners. A mentor's guide is also provided.
