QTAC's role is to provide and operate a centralised tertiary application system and to publish comprehensive information for prospective applicants. QTAC currently receives and processes applications for admission to all undergraduate courses offered by the publicly funded universities in Queensland, the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania, and to some courses at universities in Northern New South Wales. It also processes applications to full-time associate diploma, advanced diploma and diploma courses in Queensland institutes of TAFE and selected courses from the Queensland Agricultural Colleges and the Australian College of Natural Medicine.

With thousands of short courses listed, the site provides a brief overview of the course and gives visitors the contact details necessary to find out more. New features of the site allow visitors to send courses to friends, email questions to a course provider and save their favourite courses to view at a later date.
